Country Style Hungarian Restaurant

Ever since my trip to Berlin, I've been a huge fan of schnitzel. I've eaten at a few places around Toronto including Schnitzel Queen and Cafe Polonez, but I've been wanting to try Country Style Hungarian Restaurants's Schnitzel ever since I saw the BlogTo article about the best schnitzel in Toronto.

I had a chance to check it out for lunch. It's a rather unassuming restaurant with a simple decor and checkered table cloths on standard tables.

Menu
Chicken schnitzel sandwich and potatoes ($10 including tax)
This chicken schnitzel was kind of crazy, we weren't expecting the schnitzel to be double the size of the bread. The schnitzel was crispy and crunchy on the outside with lean white chicken meat on the inside. There weren't any condiments on the sandwich, but we did get ketchup, mustard and mayo from the waitress. The potatoes were a little sad - too big to be crispy fries and kind of bland.
Wiener Schnitzel sandwich with potatoes ($10 including tax)
The veal schnitzel was a more reasonably sized relative to the bread. The sandwich was meaty with a nice crispy outside. I actually kind of miss having condiments on the sandwich
Perogies with sauteed onions, sour cream and sauerkraut
There were about 7 perogies under the generous portion of sweet sauteed onions. They were filled with cheese and delicious with the sour cream and tangy sauerkraut.

Overall: The schnitzel portions are big, but I like massive portions and all the fixings from Schnitzel Queen more. On the other hand, Country Style Hungarian Restaurant does have more menu items including yummy perogies with sour cream and sauerkraut.
